About Me:

my favorite questions

  • I am a provoker. In my work with learner-focused organizations, I’ve found that my greatest strength is asking the right question at the right time. A good question can shift thinking, spark ideas, uncover root causes, or motivate action. I’ve learned that the best results come after asking a few key questions. I enjoy providing that jolt and then using strategy, structure, and facilitation to turn ideas into action and action into results.

  • I am an organizer. I maximize and appreciate the talents available, arrange them to accomplish a purpose-driven idea, and go all in as an exemplar and mentor to ensure that every member of the group is inspired, feels that they are being treated fairly, and has pride in the purpose of the work.

  • I am an engager.  I value belonging and justice and have always kept these central to how I think about decision making in a community of any size. My mission is to seek and promote the varied perspectives of citizen stakeholders so that decisions made about a community are made by the community.

  • I am a facilitator.  I have helped dozens of mission-based teams design and implement inclusive processes to set goals, create policy, or make improvements.  I bring people and organizations together so that they may achieve the highest and most equitable results for children and learners.

  • I am a planner.  My clients and friends have always called upon me to turn big ideas into concrete action steps.  I am big fan of lists, checkboxes, and contingency planning.  I can keep one foot in the current moment and one foot running toward the future in any number of well-laid paths forward, ready to adjust to whatever reality throws our way.

  • I am a life-long learner. As an educator, I know that learning stems from asking good questions, testing ideas, and reflecting on the results. Yet, organizations who serve learners of all ages are often so pressed with the urgency of their core mission to take on the work of learning themselves.  I always hope to leverage one project, problem, or moment in time to help organizations build systemic and sustainable habits of continuous improvement to increase their impact and better support learners. At the same time, I am constantly collecting data and reflecting on experiences to improve my own practice.
